Bariatric surgery is a life-changing procedure. For some individuals, their very life may depend on its success. It is not easy, and requires a great deal of determined effort plus the right bariatric vitamins, but with these simple steps in mind you can succeed.

With dedication and a plan of action, you will watch yourself transform. It will not happen overnight, but you will witness your progress as long as you are diligent.

There are a few key steps to being victorious in your struggle. Conquering hunger and fatigue, staying healthy and exercising are all important issues that will factor into your ability to accomplish your goals.

The steps below provide a basic outline for you to use when developing your own fitness plan. Remember, it is important to stay optimistic. If you are confident that you will succeed, nothing else can stand in your way.

How to Recognize Hunger Signals

One of the first issues you will face is learning when your body is genuinely hungry. Once you are able to eat solid foods again, it is important that you do not overeat.

For a while you may not feel full after you have finished the portions you are allowed. It takes time to train your body to function on less food than before, but being faithful to your diet will make this process easier over time.

If you are feeling hungry, ask yourself first whether it is psychological. If it cannot be controlled by altering your thoughts, drink water or exercise. Often times when we think we are hungry, we are really only thirsty.

Water will help you feel full, and by staying hydrated you will reduce the occurrence of false hunger pains. If it is psychological, distracting yourself with exercise is a great way to help yourself forget the desire for food.

How to Plan your Bariatric Diet

At first you will only be able to consume liquids, but as solid foods are reintroduced into your diet it is important to choose what you eat wisely. There are several foods you should avoid, such as raw vegetables, sticky grains such as rice, or dry and fibrous foods like bread and pasta.

You will want to eat only foods that are easily digestible, and that do not contain fat, sugar or salt. Stay away from processed foods, and foods that are full of hidden calories and preservatives.

There are many delicious recipes for bariatric patients that will keep your diet interesting and your stomach full. It may be difficult to abstain from unhealthy food at first, especially because they are both addictive and easily accessible.

However, with time you will find your desire for such foods will diminish. After a while, you may find even the thought of junk food distasteful.

Don’t Forget to Take your Vitamins!

It is so important for your recovery to take bariatric vitamins after surgery. It will be difficult for you to consume the proper amount of nutrients on your own, and in order to heal your body must be fortified.

By supplementing your source of vitamins you will fight off phantom hunger pains and malnutrition. Taking bariatric vitamins will also combat lethargy, giving you more energy for things like exercise.

Make sure you choose quality bariatric vitamins that do not contain fillers and additives, and do not take a general multivitamin because it does not contain what your body needs. There are some very good products on the market, and you can tell which supplements work best simply by reading the list of ingredients. Anything with talc, fat, sugar, or artificial colors and flavors should be avoided.

Drink Up!

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. You will need to consume at least eight glasses of water a day. It is wise to carry a bottle of water with you at all times. Staying hydrated is so important, especially after bariatric surgery. It will facilitate healing and it will aid in your digestion.

Possibly most significantly, it will help you feel full. Any time you are feeling hungry even though you have eaten your caloric fill for the moment, drink a glass of water to prevent phantom pains.

Stay away from soda and alcohol, as they are dehydrating and full of empty calories. Definitely drink more water than anything else, and your job will be much easier.

Work the Weight Off

Exercising after bariatric surgery is one of the key tricks to achieving success quickly. Without it, almost all other efforts are in vain. Exercise burns calories and speeds up your metabolism while toning your muscles and increasing your energy. It builds confidence, stamina and self-esteem.

The best part is, it doesn’t require back breaking labor and thousands of sit ups to meet your goals. You can actually have a lot of fun while burning calories if you stick to a low impact workout like walking or swimming. Most doctors will recommend activities like these or like riding a bike or taking a yoga class as a great way to get you in shape.

Ask your Family for Support

One of the most important things to persevering in your goals is optimism. With a positive outlook, you will remain dedicated and will be able to recognize your progress. Life after bariatric surgery can be an emotional battle as well as a physical one.

You may at times feel discouraged. It is important to ask your family for help during these times. Your family may be unsupportive, or insensitive to your dietary needs.

They may feel jealous that you are losing weight. It can be trying especially with spouses, who may feel threatened that when you have lost the weight you plan to that you will leave them.

Make sure your family understands the reasons you are trying to lose weight. If they know it is about your health and well-being, and that you appreciate their love and support during this time, you should find them more supportive and encouraging.

No matter what the obstacle is, stay positive and you will succeed. It will not be easy, and you will not see results immediately, but if you know in your heart that you can do this then nothing can stop you. Good luck with your weight loss plan. Success will be yours as long as you believe in yourself.

The way to achieve and maintain a healthy weight after bariatric surgery is by changing the speed of your metabolism. Through your bariatric diet, regular exercise, the right gastric bypass supplements and staying hydrated, you can increase your metabolism. Once you’ve done this, you will find yourself steadily dropping pounds.

It requires some effort, but with a few simple things in mind you can maintain progress towards your goals and achieve what you may have never thought possible. Although recovering from any surgical procedure takes time, you can feel healthy, be energized and lose weight while you work towards your goals.

Tips to Control Your Appetite After Bariatric Surgery

Not knowing when your body is full is the leading cause of overeating. Foods that are high in salt, fat and sugar are especially misleading, and are even addictive. In addition to this, problems like depression, boredom, or previous substance addictions can add to the tendency to eat when it isn’t necessary. By choosing the right foods, taking gastric bypass supplements, and drinking lots of water, you can help train your body to recognize when you are genuinely hungry.

We naturally have a tendency to eat more of the foods that contain large quantities of these ingredients, not only because it tends to make food taste better, but because our hunter-gatherer ancestors had less access to them then they did to plants and seeds. In the small quantities available in a natural setting, fat, salt and sugar are actually good for you.

However, obtaining food is much more convenient than it used to be, and unfortunately most of what we can buy from the grocery store is heavy with these ingredients. Even when we think we are making healthy decisions, all we have to do is read the back label to see that the number one ingredient is something unnecessary and detrimental like corn syrup. By following the guidelines set by your doctor in determining your bariatric diet, false hunger will eventually cease to be a problem.

How to Choose Your Beverages Wisely

It is important to know what to drink, even after you have reintroduced solid foods into your diet. Although fruit juice has vitamins and may appear to be healthy, many juices contain high quanities of sugar and empty calories that will hurt your dietary efforts. Drink at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day, as this will help you feel full and aid digestion.

You should always have a bottle of water at your side. Unsweetened tea is also okay, and can be a good way to put additional vitamins in your body.

Avoid carbonated beverages like soda. The sugar is detrimental to your diet, and the carbonation can cause pain and discomfort.

Stay away from alcohol for the same reasons. It adds on calories, it can cause severe stomach cramping, and will dehydrate you. Staying well hydrated after gastric bypass surgery facilitates a speedy recovery, keeps you energized, and helps control your appetite.

Gastric Bypass Supplements

The importance of getting the proper nutrients after gastric bypass surgery cannot be stressed enough. By taking good gastric bypass supplements, you will expedite a healthy recovery and avoid malnutrition. It will help to prevent your body from sending you false hunger signals, and will increase your energy.

Be careful to select quality gastric bypass supplements that contain no fillers. This will help you avoid problems with malabsorption, and will improve your digestion. Don’t use a general multivitamin. You should choose vitamin supplements that are designed to provide the proper dosages required by your body’s specific needs after gastric bypass surgery.

Why You Should Exercise Regularly After Bariatric Surgery

This can be very challenging, especially after any type of surgical procedure, but this step simply cannot be skipped. Regular exercise will help you heal faster. It also boosts your metabolism, mood and energy, and even helps to decrease your appetite. Exercise alone is the best way to lose weight, and must be done to achieve success after gastric bypass surgery.

Knowing what exercises are safe for you after surgery is vital. You should definitely avoid anything too intensive, as starting a strenuous workout regimen immediately after surgery can cause injury.

Most doctors recommend light impact exercises such as yoga, hiking, bicycling and swimming. These will help you burn calories, and they are inifinitely more fun than doing pushups. Discuss your options with your physician. You may want to hire a personal trainer who is experienced with individuals who are trying to lose weight after gastric bypass surgery.

Gastric bypass surgery can change your life, as long as you are willing to work for it. If you don’t see results right away, don’t give up. It may be something as seemingly insignificant as not taking the right gastric bypass vitamins or not drinking enough water.

Whatever the issue, discuss any problems you are having with your doctor. It may take a simple restructuring of your post-surgical plan, but with dedication and will power you are sure to meet your weightloss goals.

Anyone who has ever undergone any type of surgical procedure is aware of the temporary lack of energy that usually follows. For bariatric surgery patients, however, this problem can last a long time if you don’t get the right bariatric vitamins. The reason for this is the nature of the procedure itself, and your body’s new nutritional needs and bariatric diet.

Weight loss surgery such as gastric bypass can pose some sticky problems for patients because of the body’s decreased ability to absorb necessary nutrients from your food. Even if you adhere to a healthy diet and take dietary supplements, exhaustion can be difficult to overcome.

There are three very simple ways to increase your energy after your surgery, aside from the obvious need to make healthy choices when eating.

Amp Up with B-12

While taking any vitamins will at least help to promote your health, most vitamins lack the proper ingredients and dosages you need after gastric bypass surgery.

Most vitamins don’t contain enough B-12, which isn’t easy to digest anyway and can be more difficult for bariatric patients. B-12 helps not only to increase your energy, it also speeds up your metabolism helping you to lose weight faster. You just need the portions proper for your needs; usually you can only find this in a good gastric bypass supplement.

Exercise the Drowsy Away

Although it seems like it only makes us tired, regular exercise builds stamina and endurance. It increases the amount of adrenaline your body produces, giving you more energy and also aiding metabolism. You will lose weight and feel great! You’ll also sleep much more soundly.

Most doctors recommend yoga, swimming, biking or hiking for bariatric patients. Talk with your physician about what will work best for you.

Sleep it Off!

While sleeping too much is certainly counterproductive, getting too little will only make you lackadaisical. Getting enough rest is vital to your recovery. It will also allow your body to build energy, defeating dreadful fatigue.

If for any reason these tips don’t do enough to improve your stamina, talk to your doctor. It could be something as simple as not getting adequate nutrition from your current bariatric supplements, many of which use absorption-hindering filler. Be sure to address any concerns you have with your physician. The most important thing is to be healthy!

For many individuals who choose bariatric surgery to help them lose weight, it can be inspiring once they witness the results. However, it can also be challenging. There are many issues that can arise, even within your family. Unfortunately, these important emotional issues are rarely addressed by your doctor.

Some concerns many women have after their weight loss surgery are easy to alleviate with the proper encouragement and emotional support. To help you succeed in this journey, you need to be optimistic. Here are some common questions that may arise.

Will My Family be Proud of Me?

Of course they will! But sometimes issues pop up just the same.

You are doing something to actively make a drastic change occur in your life. Some families may feel threatened, especially if weight maintenance is difficult for other members in the family.

They may feel threatened as you start to lose weight. They might be unwilling to aide you with your recovery, or pessimistic with regards to exercise. They may also be reluctant to consider your dietary needs.

Do not fear that they do not love you or aren’t proud of you. They may just be worried that you won’t need them once you’ve met your goals. Assure them that you value their opinions, and let them know how important their help is for you to succeed.

Will My Husband Still Love Me?

For some couples, marital problems can begin after you’ve had surgery. Many spouses worry that you are not losing weight to improve your health. They may fear that you are trying to attract someone new, and that when you’ve met your goals you will leave or replace them.

Especially if your spouse struggles with their weight, they may feel insecure that you are losing so much while their difficulties persist. Make sure they understand that you are doing this for your own health and self-esteem, and that you still love them. Let them know that it is because of their love and encouragement that you are able to do this.

My Family isn’t Supporting Me on My Strict Bariatric Diet. What Can I Do?

First, know that you are not alone! This is one of the most frequent issues that arise after surgery.

It is challenging already to adopt new eating habits. Having others disregard your dietary restrictions can make things especially difficult. If you cannot get your family to start eating healthier foods with you, you may be up for a real challenge.

Having junk food in the house, or watching other people eat unhealthy foods, can cause constant temptation. Don’t give in! Don’t let anyone sabotage your aims. After a few weeks, greasy burgers and soggy fries won’t look nearly as appetizing as they used to–trust me!

In the meantime, try to discuss these and any other issues you may be having with familial support. If you talk to them about it, they will feel less threatened and will start encouraging you.

If you need to, enlist the aid of outside help from a bariatric professional counselor. No matter what do not give up, you have what it takes to get thin again!
